Most counselling and social work services in Savona and Walhachin you will need to travel to either Kamloops or Cache Creek for. There is one in the area that is listed below.

  • Skeetchestn Social Development:
    • Throughout their programs they keep a focus on the mental, physical, cultural and spiritual wellbeing of their members throughout the services they offer. Those services are: income assistance (income assistance will be given to those who qualify through the AANDC policy guidelines and will be given from the band’s Social Development worker), funeral donation (money will be donated to families with the loss of a loved one to help out with food, funeral costs, transportation and any other funds the family deems necessary. It will be a minimum of $750), patient travel (only for status members on-reserve, travel is to Kamloops), homemakers and elder programming (non-professional home care like housekeeping, meals, social visits, Christmas luncheon, museum visit), culture and sport based activities (this is for youth, adults, families and elders. There are art based activities, indoor and outdoor sports, workshops, and gatherings that all work to keep the tradition of the Skeetchestn culture alive and thriving), and finally health programs (the health clinic is open Tuesday-Thursday and promotes holistic health).
    • The Skeetchestn band also has affordable housing programs to promote health and stability to their members.
